FEAR NOT!
By: Brother Brian (CJCC/AN - NJ)

We are to fear Yahweh and nothing else. We are not to fear man or what man can do to us. The Bible tell us:

"The fear of Yahweh [is] the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do [his commandments]: his praise endureth for ever." (Ps.111:10)

"The fear of Yahweh [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Pro.1:7)

Paul wrote of a proper understanding of what we should expect to encounter and how we should react:

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom.8:35-39)

Are we acting like "more than conquerors" or like fearful cowards?

If we are proclaiming the true Gospel of Yahshua it seems only natural that the world will misunderstand us, hate us and persecute us. Perhaps if the world loves us and affirms us we can be sure that the we are not proclaiming the real Gospel. What Yahshua assured us will happen we should expect it to be so!

Recall what we read in Acts when the apostles were hauled before the jews for their bold preaching about Yahshua in Acts 5:40-42:

"And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten [them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ."

The Bible tells us that appeared before the jews, were beaten, admonished to stop preaching and that they were "rejoicing that they were to suffer shame for his name." They rejoiced in this persecution and they continued to teach and to preach in Yahshua's name. The power of man, nor threats, nor intimidation could stop them. What is preventing you and I from doing the same with courage and conviction?

Yahshua assured us: "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (Jn.16:33)

We have overcome! Let's begin to act like it!
